Insurance

It is important to understand your insurance coverage. There is a difference in benefits between medical coverage and vision coverage.

  • Vision coverage is for eye exams for nearsighted=Myopia, farsighted=Hyperopia, and Astigmatism or normal vision

  • Medical coverage for the eye is submitted for medical conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, iritis, pink eye, dry eyes, floaters, flashers, strabismus, esotropia, etc. These are just examples of the many medical conditions we see.

  • Refractions are not covered by most insurance companies. This is the test that determines the refractive error of the eye. This tells us what strength lens you will need in glasses or contacts.
