Dr. John Avallone
Dr. Avallone is the area's first board-certified ophthalmologist with a full-time practice dedicated to the entire spectrum of children's eye care needs.

From eye exams for newborns to the latest surgical methods for treating eye misalignment, Dr. Avallone offers children and their families a caring approach combined with more than 25 years of clinical expertise.

Formerly Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Dr. Avallone has taught pediatric ophthalmology to residents from Georgetown University, Washington Hospital Center and other medical programs. He received distinguished awards from several of these institutions, including "Clinical Teacher of the Year" at Georgetown.

Dr. Avallone completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and received his medical degree at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda. He is a member of the medical staff at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Dr. Avallone has been a team leader for humanitarian medical missions to Guatemala for the past six years. He enjoys sailing and time with his family.

Dr. Avallone performs surgery at the Surgical Center of Greater Annapolis as well as Anne Arundel Medical Center.
